Krasnoyarsk customs seized six red deer antlers weighing about 6 kg from a 55-year-old foreign passenger departing for Dushanbe.

During inspection on the “green” channel an officer found items resembling parts of an ungulate in hand luggage; the man said he had found them in a forest and did not know export was restricted.

Tests identified the antlers as red deer (Cervidae) covered by CITES.

Two administrative cases were opened under Articles 16.2 and 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences with possible fines and confiscation. Derivatives were held pending court; CITES items require written declaration at the border.
