At a meeting with Rosgranstroy head Gennady Bezlibenko and the contractor, the parties discussed completion and commissioning of the new Pogranichny facility with 22 lanes — 10 for trucks, 4 for buses and 8 for cars. Rosgranstroy reports 95% construction readiness.

More than 350 trucks, about 50 buses and up to 1,100 tourists currently cross the border there every day in both directions.

During his Far East trip, Mr Timofeev also visited the Hasan and Kraskino checkpoints. Hasan will be Russia’s only road crossing with the DPRK; readiness is 42% with completion expected in 2026 and an initial layout of ten lanes (four truck, two bus, two car and two reserve).

At the new Kraskino facility on the Chinese border, installation and commissioning are under way with 93% readiness. After reconstruction there will be 16 lanes instead of six — twelve for trucks and two each for buses and cars. The existing Kraskino site handles about 180 trucks, 60 buses and some 2,000 tourists daily.

Mr Timofeev closed the visit with a meeting at the Far Eastern Customs Office, heard reports on main activities and stressed the need to meet service targets, including standard cargo inspection times at the border.
