A 50-year-old woman was checked on the green channel before a flight to Tashkent. Officers found a Rauber-Kopsch anatomy textbook, volume on sensory organs, 11th edition, printed by Georg Thieme in Leipzig.
She said she was carrying the book at a friend’s request for a lecturer in Samarkand and did not know it was a cultural asset subject to export restrictions.
Expert examination confirmed the book’s authenticity. Administrative cases were opened under Part 1 of Article 16.2 and Article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences. Fines and confiscation may apply.
FCS Russia reminds travellers that exporting cultural valuables requires a permit from the Ministry of Culture and a passenger customs declaration.
