The 42-year-old passenger was checked in the green channel. Inspectors found four branded wooden boxes of “COHIBA Habana, Cuba 25 Esplendidos” with 25 cigars each.
He said he was visiting his brother, brought the cigars as a gift and was unaware of customs rules.
A criminal case was opened under Article 226.1(1) of the Criminal Code (smuggling of strategically important goods on a large scale), punishable by up to five years' imprisonment or a fine of up to RUB 1 million.
