According to a press release by FCS Russia, Dagestan customs officers found more than 122 kg of marijuana in a lorry.
The truck was transiting to Russia via Azerbaijan, driven by a Russian national. Risk management triggered an inspection that revealed 122 polyethylene bags of plant material.
Tests confirmed marijuana; the illicit market value is estimated at over 200 million roubles.
A criminal case was opened under Article 229.1(4)(b) (especially large-scale drug smuggling), punishable by 15–20 years or life imprisonment. The operation involved the Federal Security Service Directorate for Dagestan; inquiries continue.
