Krasnoyarsk customs find Siamese crocodile trophy in passenger baggage from Vietnam

According to an FCS Russia press release, officers detected a “stuffed Siamese crocodile” in a passenger’s baggage on an arrival from Vietnam.

At Krasnoyarsk airport, customs officers found a 1.6 kg, 105 cm stuffed Siamese crocodile in the baggage of a Russian national arriving on a Nha Trang–Krasnoyarsk flight during inspection.

The traveller said she had bought the item as a souvenir and was unaware of declaration and permit requirements.

Examination confirmed a CITES-listed Siamese crocodile specimen; lawful import requires a passenger customs declaration and permits from competent authorities.

Two administrative cases were opened under Articles 16.2 and 16.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences; a fine and confiscation are possible.
