Customs report rise in passenger car imports via Far Eastern crossings

The FCS Russia press office reports a rise in imports of passenger cars from China through Far Eastern border crossings in late October and early November 2025.

From 1 to 12 November, Ussuriysk customs cleared 4,477 cars — 3.5 times more than in the same period in 2024 and 25% above the full November 2024 total, including 617 releases on 12 November alone.

Since the start of the month, 1,007 car carriers with 5,528 vehicles entered via Primorye road checkpoints, nearly four times last year’s figure. Growth in personal-use imports led to queues near some temporary storage warehouses in Ussuriysk because of limited space and carriers’ reluctance to use freer sites in the Ussuriysk customs region.

Customs has added transit completion capacity, strengthened shifts and, with carriers’ consent, redistributes trucks to warehouses with free space; regular meetings are held with warehouse operators, carriers and authorities. Declarants are urged not to delay filing declarations after vehicles are placed in storage.

Vladivostok customs cleared 38,500 cars in October 2025 (+32% year on year) and almost 15,700 personal-use vehicles from 1 to 12 November. Japanese brands lead volumes while supplies from South Korea grow; Vladivostok ports have sufficient capacity and release continues at weekends.
