Central Excise Customs opened 27 criminal cases in H1 2025

In the first half of 2025, the Central Excise Customs registered 98 crime reports and opened 27 criminal cases. Source: Central Excise Customs (CAT).

The main categories of offences were as follows:

— evasion of customs duties (Article 194 of the Russian Criminal Code): 14 cases involving RUB 150.8 million;

— unlawful movement of strategically important goods and resources (Article 226.1): seven cases, including petroleum products (RUB 16.4 million), diamonds (RUB 104.5 million) and alcoholic products (RUB 14.5 million);

— unlawful currency transactions (Article 193.1): six cases, with illegally transferred currency totalling RUB 460 million.

Some cases were referred to other law-enforcement agencies; indictments were drawn up in several proceedings.
